Rolls-Royce Car Painted with 1000 Diamonds

Geneva: Geneva International Motor, which was held last week, saw plenty of luxury cars, but one may well outshine all others, literally: Rolls-Royce has unveiled a version of its Ghost luxury car painted with diamonds. According to the car company, the “Diamond Stardust” car is the “first luxury motor car to be finished in a paint created from diamonds”.

The paint is made from 1,000 “ethically-sourced” crushed diamonds, and constitutes “the most expensive paint to grace the body of a Rolls-Royce”, according to the company.

The diamonds went through an “extensive testing to ensure their radiance when used in a paint” for two months at Goodwood’s Technical Laboratory. The process “resulted in the creation of a very fine diamond powder which was then mixed into the paint” to the top section of the car. Then, an extra final layer of lacquer was applied to protect the diamond particles during the hand-polishing process.
