Angola Reboots Diamond Polishing Activity

man-cutting-diamondLuanda: Angola has restarted a diamond polishing and jewellery making plant in the country after years of inactivity.

Angolan state-owned news agency, Angop quoted Angolan National Diamond Company (Endiama) chief executive Carlos Sumbula as saying that the projects would be implemented in a more sustainable way.

He said the projects would also increase job opportunities in the country. “Opening this plant means also launching a challenge to Angolan artists to make drawings that must be delivered to Endiama to produce jewellery designed by Angolans,” he said.

Sumbula could, however, not provide details on the anticipated output as far as diamond polishing was concerned. He said it was too early to do so as they are still setting up machinery.
