WDM to Present Workshop During VICENZAORO

WDMFHong Kong: The World Diamond Mark Foundation (WDM), in cooperation with Fiera di Vicenza, Europe’s leading jewellery trade fair organizer, will hold a seminar entitled “What consumers expect retailers to know about diamonds,” during the upcoming VICENZAORO January 2016 fair that will be held from January 22 to 27. The seminar will take placeon January 25th, from 10.00 – 11.00 a.m., inHall 7, Room 7.1.2 a.

As the leading trade show for the diamond, gem and jewellery industry and trade, VICENZAORO January 2016 presents a selection of the most important brands of the jewellery industry, attracting retailers from over 120 countries in the world,. The show which has organized its exhibitors in six communities, showcases the exhibitors’ latest jewellery trends, collections and innovative designs under the layout format VICENZAORO The Boutique Show. As always, visitors are also invited to take part in VICENZAORO’s extensive seminar and educational program.

At the WDM seminar, Ya’akov Almor, international communications director of the World Diamond Mark, will challenge his audience with questions about diamonds, that, when asked by consumers, retailers not always do have clear-cut answers to. “Recent developments in the polished diamond business have been fast and furious,” Almor noted. “And most retailers have difficulty keeping up with the information stream. And a lot of the information they are fed, is often partial or incomplete!”

“Also, consumers, more often than not, come armed with information that they ‘throw’ at the retailer, expecting that he or she has the answers they seek,” Almor continued. “This may concern, among others, pricing, the provenance of diamonds, as well as treatments and, more recently, also synthetic diamonds. In the seminar, we’ll try to dispel some of the confusion and create some clarity as to what knowledge is a sine qua none and, more importantly, where and how reliable, authoritative information can be easily found and shared,” he noted.

The WDM seminar is held in the framework of the strategic partnership between Fiera di Vicenza and the World Diamond Mark, and aims to sustain and improve image and consumer confidence for diamond and diamond jewellery. As such, the WDM, which coordinates the diamond and jewellery industry’s efforts in generic diamond promotion and advertising, is given a platform to advance retailer and consumer education.
