New Delhi: On December 2, 2024, Surat-based diamantaire and Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Govind Dholakia honored India’s Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi with a remarkable natural diamond masterpiece, the “Navbharat Ratna.” Designed in the shape of India, this 2.12-carat diamond symbolizes the unity, brilliance, and enduring spirit of the nation.
The creation of this extraordinary piece was undertaken by skilled artisans from Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK). The process, spanning nearly 3,700 minutes, involved master craftsman Rajeshbhai Kachadiya, who has 14 years of experience at SRK. He dedicated 40 hours to intricately shape the diamond into the map of India, comparing his work to the commitment of a soldier. Vishalbhai Italiya, a six-year veteran at SRK, spent 22 hours polishing the girdle to perfection, giving the piece its final touch.
Mr. Govind Dholakia, Founder-Chairman Emeritus of SRK, explained, “The uniqueness of the Navbharat Ratna lies in its design—a single natural diamond laser-carved into the map of India. Inspired by the younger generation in my family, who view the Prime Minister as a gem of the nation, we decided to create and present this 2.12-carat diamond as a token of our appreciation. Since he represents India, what could be more fitting than a diamond symbolizing the nation? This masterpiece is priceless, as it embodies the spirit of India. I am delighted that the Prime Minister recognized the exceptional craftsmanship of my team, as these artisans represent the future of India.”
