Sparkle ’23 Ended Successfully

Surat: The Sparkle International Gems and Jewellery Exhibition-2023, organized by Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and South Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industry Development Center at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Indoor Stadium in Athwa lines, Surat on 25, 26 and 27th August, concluded with a great success note. The three-day exhibition showcased both traditional and innovative jewellery designs.

The exhibition was inaugurated by local MP and Gujarat BJP state president, Mr. C.R. Patil, who, along with his wife Gangaben Patil, visited various jewellery stalls to admire the latest designer creations. Surat Municipal Corporation Standing Committee Chairman Mr. Paresh Patel was also present at the function, expressing support for the artisans and craftsmen.

Chamber of Commerce President Mr. Ramesh Vaghasia spoke passionately about India’s economic potential, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of a five trillion US dollar economy by 2027. He also emphasized the SGCCI’s mission to increase exports from Gujarat, highlighting Surat’s flourishing gems and jewellery industry as a key driver of growth.

Mr. Patil applauded the Chamber’s efforts, expressing pride in the jewelry designs reflecting Indian culture and hinting at the rising economic prosperity of the nation. He also suggested that the Chamber of Commerce should request the inclusion of Sparkle in the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat-2024 event.

The Sparkle Exhibition was organized with around 30 jewelers from various cities, including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Bikaner, displaying their ornate creations. Unique highlights include a silver collection with idols of prominent Indian figures and landmarks, and special necklaces crafted for NRIs, weddings, and upcoming festivals.

The exhibition, set up at BTUSI grounds, offered a unique opportunity for Surat-based jewelry brands to showcase their latest designs. It became a one-stop destination for people interested in Surat’s jewelry trends. The timing of the exhibition coincided with the NRI season, which proved beneficial for local jewelers as they received a significant number of inquiries and secured multiple high-value orders.

From high-quality jewelry featuring genuine rubies and polkis to trending bridal collections, the exhibition had something for everyone. Attendees were particularly captivated by the newly launched Indo-Italia jewelry styles. Also well-received were collections of pink gold jewelry, Jadau Kundan Polki, and Victorian pieces.

To enhance the event’s appeal, the Chamber of Commerce extended special invitations to over 600 couples planning to marry soon. These attendees made significant purchases, adding to the event’s success. The exhibition also attracted international customers, including some from Nepal, highlighting Surat’s emerging global presence in the jewelry market.

The exhibition drew a total of 9,038 visitors over its three-day run, coming from various Indian cities like New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Kolkata, and many more. The impressive turnout underscores the event’s standing as a landmark occasion for both the public and industry professionals.
