
Mumbai: The Diamond Exporters’ Association Limited (DEAL), in collaboration with the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), organized an insightful seminar on Artificial Intelligence-Based Diamond Paternity Testing at the BDB Convention Hall, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
As artificial intelligence continues to transform industries globally, its application in the diamond sector has become increasingly significant. The seminar addressed the vital role AI now plays in ensuring authenticity and traceability within the diamond value chain — a topic of great relevance in today’s evolving technological landscape.
The keynote speaker for the event was the esteemed Mr. Janak Mistry, an internationally recognized “Diamantaires Scientist,” Mr. Mistry holds a BE (Mechanical) and DGA-GAGTL (London), and currently serves as the Managing Director and CEO of the Lexus Group of Companies, Surat. With a passion for innovation and over three decades of dedicated service to the diamond industry, he has pioneered a range of advanced instruments designed to optimize diamond yield and ensure precision in processing.
In his presentation, Mr. Mistry highlighted how AI is now being leveraged to track the origin of diamonds throughout the pipeline, thereby mitigating risks of fraud and ensuring greater transparency.
