Russia to Chair KPCS in 2020

Moscow: Russia will chair the Kimberley Process (KP), an organization aiming to diminish the flow of conflict diamonds in the world market, in 2020, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev told Sputnik in an interview.

“Russia has not chaired the Kimberley Process since 2005, and we have decided that it is time to fix this and put forward our candidacy. As a result, Russia assumed the post of vice-chairman of the Kimberley Process in 2019 and will be chairman in 2020,” Moiseev said.

He added that among main focuses of the Russian chairmanship there would be the fight against injections of synthetic diamonds in the world market, as well as the creation of equal conditions for all market participants.
