Mumbai: Platinum jewellery is set to Outshine gold this Akshay Tritiya as it has become 18% cheaper than the yellow metal.

Jewellers and bullion dealers said that platinum has become popular among young Indian men, who are buying platinum bracelets and chains, and that the trend of 40 per cent growth seen over the past one year may continue till Akshay Tritiya.

Mr. Rohan Sharma, Managing Director of RK Jewellers South Extension said, ‘The demand of platinum in the past one year has increased almost double (40 per cent) and will continue to see high till Akshay Tritiya. We are expecting good sales this time of platinum apart from gold and diamonds. Indian men, especially millennial has developed their taste in platinum as it gives classy look’.

Mr. Shehzad Zaveri, Creative Director of Minawala said, ‘We are glad to see that people are opting for different options and this Akshay Tritiya we would be seeing good sales of Platinum. We expect the demand to remain robust this entire year since there is no immediate trigger for the price to move up and the slowdown of the auto industry.’
