Overseas Traders Invited to Buy Offices in SDB

Surat, 30th May: After Mumbai, now Surat diamantaires are inviting diamond traders from abroad to set up offices at the proposed Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) here. Road Shows are being organized at Antwerp, Dubai, Hong Kong, China, UAE and Europe, to impress upon diamond traders to buy office space at the proposed diamond bourse, according to a report in The Times of India.

Chandrakant Sanghavi, member of the SDB committee and chairman of Sanghavi Exports, said, “Few days ago, Indian diamantaires from Israel, Antwerp and Hong Kong had visited Surat and they were keen to know more details about the proposed diamond bourse. They have shown interest in purchasing office space here.”

Meanwhile, the diamantaires spearheading the proposed SDB movement are likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, to seek the support of the Central Government for the new venture. According to a DTC Sightholder, it was Modi who insisted on developing a parallel bourse in Surat during his meeting with the diamond community members in Mumbai last year.
