Mumbai: Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) has announced the election of Mr. Milan Chokshi as its new Chairman. The decision was made at a Board of Directors meeting held on 15th October, 2024.
Chokshi, a prominent figure in the gem and jewellery industry, succeeds Shri. Adil Kotwal, whose tenure was marked by significant contributions to the Council. Under Kotwal’s leadership, GJSCI’s JOSH initiative experienced substantial growth, expanding from a limited space to the expansive Bharat Ratnam CFC within SEEPZ. Kotwal also played a pivotal role in establishing a new division for Specially Abled Persons at JOSH.
Chokshi, a fourth-generation jeweller, gemmologist and director of Tanvirkumar & Co., brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is also the Director of bullion operations at Diamond India Limited and an active member of the Committee of Administration of the GJEPC, where he is the Convener — Promotions, Marketing & Business Development. His passion for education is evident in his role as a Managing Committee Member at Each One Teach One, an NGO, and as the Chairman of the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) Mumbai, an institute run by GJEPC.
GJSCI said it looks forward to soar to greater heights under the leadership of Milan Chokshi, an industry stalwart and its youngest Chairman so far. “His enthusiasm would surely foster the objective of skilling the youth of the nation and facilitate industry support,” it stated.
