Mumbai: India’s cut and polished exports for Apl.’15 registered a decrease of 11.03 percent recording $ 1635.71 million as against $ 1838.54 million during Apl.’14, according to the provisional figures announced by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India. In volume terms, the decline of polished exports was 5.73 percent, recording 2.524 million carats in Apl.’15 as against 2.677 million carats in Apl.’14.
Rough exports of $ 111.50 million for Apl.’15 as against $106.34 million for Apl.’14 showed an increase of 4.94 percent. However, rough exports indicated a decrease in volume terms by 5.21 percent, recording 2.242 million carats in Apl.’15 as against 2.365 million carats in Apl.’14.
Rough imports in Apl.’15 recorded $ 1370.82 million as against $ 1989.57 million in Apl.’14, indicating a decrease of 31.10 percent. In volume terms too rough imports decreased 16.43 percent to 11.161 million carats in Apl.’15 from 13.355 million carats in Apl.’14
Polished diamond imports recorded $ 244.13 million for Apl.’15 as against $ 412.12 million for Apl.’14, decreasing by 40.76 percent.
