Jaipur: The gemstone councils of China and India recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to help facilitate seamless jewellery trade between the two countries, the Times of India reported.
The MoU was inked between India’s Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and China Gems Centre (CGC) on the sidelines of the Jewellers Association Show in Jaipur.
Panyu City Vice Mayor Chen De Jun, who was present at the event, invited Indian gemstone and jewellery manufacturers and traders to visit his city. He also pledged support from the Chinese government on the establishment of trade centres in China.
The MoU is aimed at facilitating common and acceptable accreditation of gemstones between China and India. At the Jaipur fair, CGC gave a seminar on China’s services, infrastructure and policies for the gemstone industry.
