Mumbai: Gems & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) conducted a seminar on ‘Hiring for the future – Best practices in HR’ during IIJS 2017. The 60 minute seminar was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Ms. Saumya Badgayan, GM, corporate strategy, HR & IR, Mr. Nirav Mandir, Chief Human Resource Officer, Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Vijay Deshpande, HR head & VP, Deepak Nitrite Ltd, Mr. Prashant Khambasawdkar, MD & CEO, Universal Group, Mr. Prem Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI and Mr. Binit Bhatt, CEO, GJSCI.

Hiring plays a key role in the overall functioning of any organization. With the jewellery industry being largely unorganized at the root-level, GJSCI conducted this seminar during IIJS where they reached out to jewellers, movers & shakers thus educating them about quality hiring and training of the skilled-but-uncertified employees. The speakers shared their valuable experience and insights on current HR scenario and its future prospects. Followed by this was a panel discussion which took place as an extension to the topic.

“We were honored to have such prominent faces of the HR industry for GJSCI’s ‘Hiring for the future’ seminar. Hiring is one of the key concerns in the gems & jewellery industry and we as a body are working towards upliftment of its quality through our initiatives like RPL program. The seminar highlighted the importance of having a certified workforce and its benefits to the organization. Overall, the seminar was a success and we were overwhelmed to have the presence of eminent personalities from the industry” said Mr. Binit Bhatt, CEO, GJSCI.

“GJSCI aims to walk on the footprints of our honorable PM. Shri Narendra Modiji to enhance and excel the skillforce of India. We regularly participate in IIJS and highlights the key concerns of the gems & Jewellery industry. This year, we realized that the labourforce is sinking and the artisans are skilled but not recognized for their talent. Hence, with the seminar dedicated to training and hiring prospects, we hope to eradicate the barrier between the industry and quality workforce”, said Mr. Prem Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI.
