GJEPC Wins Government Award

New Delhi: India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council was one of the winners of a prestigious award from the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India for promotion of the use of the official language of the government, Hindi, in its work during the year 2013-14.

The awards were distributed by the Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher and received on behalf of the Council by Sandeep Sharma, CFO along with other senior officials of the organisation – Mithlesh Pandey and K.K. Duggal.

The selection was done from among all the government offices and other organisations that are affiliated to the Ministry of Commerce. The GJEPC was the recipient of the award in Category II that covers the non-Hindi speaking areas of Western India.

Some of the activities taken up by the Council to promote Hindi include publishing an annual edition of the Ratnasanchayika, which is a compilation of articles written by members and the staff in Hindi. Other regular activities taken up include Essay and Letter Writing competitions, Poetry competitions etc.
