Jaipur: The Chairman of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Mr. Pramod Kumar Agrawal, handed over a cheque of Rs. 71 Lakh to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Mr. Ashok Gehlot yesterday to aid the fight against COVID-19 within the state.
The amount, which has been allocated from the Council’s Corporate Social Responsibility Fund, will be given to Rajasthan Medicare Relief Society to purchase equipment for Sawai Man Singh Hospital Jaipur which is one of the important centres taking care of those afflicted by the novel coronavirus.
At the presentation, the GJEPC Chairman was accompanied by Council’s Regional Chairman, Rajasthan, Mr. Nirmal Kumar Bardiya; Coloured Gemstone & Pearls Panel Convener, Mr. Vijay Kedia and Silver Jewellery Panel Convener, Mr. Ram Babu Gupta.
GJEPC has approached state governments in regions which house gem & jewellery clusters and offered to support their efforts to combat the coronavirus. In addition, the Council is also helping the daily wage workers from the gem and jewellery industry whose monthly income is less than Rs. 15,000.
