Mumbai: The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council has been conducting awareness programmes across major manufacturing centres to help the gem and jewellery export industry get ready for the new GST regime that is expected to come into force on July 1, 2017.
In Surat at the seminar on June 9, the exporters were addressed by two leading CAs, CA Nirav Jogani and CA Mukund Chouhan, who explained the details of the new system and the procedures involved in registration and filing of returns. The presentations were followed by a Q&A session.
Similarly, in Jaipur, GJEPC, along with the Jeweller’s Association, Jaipur conducted a seminar on June 12, on the GST which was addressed by four senior CAs who are well versed in the subject. Practical guidance was also given in response to specific queries from the audience.
Another seminar was also held on the same day in Vadodara where CA Purvin Shah and Shri H. N. Mevada, GM, DIC – Vadodara addressed manufacturers and retailers on GST and MSME schemes for the industry.
In Surat, GJEPC also launched a ‘GST Sahayata Desk’ on June 12. The aim is to provide guidance and assistance to the trade. A panel of members nominated by the Western Regional Council (WRIC) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will give advice and help in GST related issues.
