London: Firestone Diamonds has recovered a 110 carat gem-quality light yellow diamond, during the ramp up phase at its Liqhobong Diamond Mine in Lesotho.
The AIM-quoted diamond mining company said in a statement that the latest recovery was its largest diamond to date.
“The 110 carat gem-quality light yellow diamond recovered during Liqhobong’s ramp-up phase is a very exciting and encouraging accomplishment,” said Firestone chief executive Stuart Brown.
“It confirms our long held belief that Liqhobong has large stone potential and I hope this is the first of many to come.”
Firestone said it believed the latest diamond recovery confirmed the “significant larger stones potential” that exists at Lighobong.
