Hong Kong: Diamond Services, a developer and provider of screening services and technology for the diamond and jewellery industries, has announced that it will expand its lab-grown and colour-treated diamond screening service next week to the Israeli diamond centre.
The launch of operations in Ramat Gan, Israel, comes on the heels of the inauguration of the company’s lab-grown and colour-treated diamond screening service in Shanghai last November, and is the next stage in a rollout of services to major diamond centres around the world.
Diamond Services will manage its Israeli operation in Room 462 of the Yahalom Building in the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) complex.
All diamonds submitted for screening are tested using Diamond Services’ proprietary Diamatest and mini Raman Spectrometer, which were developed by the company and released respectively in 2014 and 2015. Together they are the only system currently available that is able to test both mounted and un-mounted stones regardless the size and shape, and can accurately detect whether they are lab-grown synthetics, HPHT colour-treated diamonds or diamond simulants, providing a conclusive finding.
“With increasing reports of lab-grown diamonds being sold without proper disclosure, or, even worse, with grading reports that mask their true identity, it is becoming increasingly imperative that diamond traders verify whether their merchandise is natural or not, especially with the ‘memo’ type of business,” said Joseph Kuzi, Diamond Services’ CEO and President. “Our screening service is designed to do just that. It results are conclusive, meaning that we can accurately identify synthetics, treated goods and simulants on the spot, with no stones needing to be referred for further testing.”
Diamond Services, which was established in 2012 in Hong Kong, specializes in development of Lab Grown diamond detection devices. In 2013 it first introduced the DiamaPen®, a hand-held laser device that is able to detect fancy colour Lab Grown diamonds. In 2014 it introduced DiamaTest®, an innovative system that screens both loose and colourless diamonds for Lab grown, for which it won the prestigious JNA 2014 Award.
The mini Raman Spectrometer, which was released in 2015 following a successful trial in Surat, India, meets the needs of both gem labs and private diamond-trading companies, and costs 90 per cent less than the equivalent Raman Spectrometer systems used to date by leading gem labs.
