Delegation from Botswana Visits BDB

Mumbai: Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) recently hosted His Excellency, Mr. Gilbert S. Mangole, the esteemed High Commissioner of Botswana, along with Mr. Dipopego Julius Tsheko, Trade Attaché, on a visit aimed at fostering bilateral ties and exploring opportunities in the diamond industry. The visit took place on July 24, 2024 and included a comprehensive tour of the facilities and interactions with key stakeholders.

During his visit, Mr. Gilbert S. Mangole met with prominent members of the diamond industry at the Bharat Diamond Bourse, showcasing the longstanding relationship between Botswana and India in the global diamond trade. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, exploring new avenues for collaboration, and enhancing mutual understanding.

“We are delighted to welcome High Commissioner Gilbert & Trade Attaché Mr. Dipopego Julius Tsheko to the Bharat Diamond Bourse,” said Mr. Anoop Mehta, President of the BDB.

“Botswana is the biggest diamond production, while India is the biggest diamond manufacturer. Their visit underscores the deep-rooted ties and shared commitment to advancing the diamond industry”, said Mr. Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB.

Mr. Gilbert expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and noted the significant role of the Bharat Diamond Bourse in the global diamond supply chain. Assured long term visa for BDB members travelling to Botswana. Also to take up member’s issues to the Govt. officials of Botswana and support the natural diamond promotions. The visit concluded with a positive outlook for future collaboration between Botswana and India in the diamond industry.
