Las Vegas: The Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) has announced that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government of the Republic of India will be honored at its Diamonds in the Sky Las Vegas Gala.
The award recognizes India’s global leadership and contributions to democracy, development and the growth and expansion of the international diamond industry.
“We are thrilled to honor India at Diamonds in the Sky Las Vegas 2015,” said DEF president Phyllis Bergman.
Last year’s Diamonds in the Sky Gala, which honored President Ian Khama and the government of the Republic of Botswana, raised more than $1 million to benefit the organization’s global “Diamonds Do Good” mission of supporting education initiatives that help people from diamond communities around the world. The gala will take place on May 28.
