Convocation Ceremony of Josh's 1st Batch Pass Outs

Mumbai: GJSCI’s Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub (JOSH) conducted the Convocation Ceremony of its students who passed out from the first batch.  The JOSH Skilling Centre was inaugurated on 3rd May, 2022 for training under the job roles Filer & Assembler, Metal Setter and Polisher & Cleaner.  This centre has been set up through CSR contributions by Industry Partners from the gems and jewellery Industry.  A state-of-the-art Training Centre was set up within SEEPZ to offer skilling to the youth from deprived sections of society, to offer them hope and a future in this industry.  A monthly allowance of Rs.5,000/- was offered to every student over the 3 months of training. An effort to ensure placement of these candidates was overwhelming with 100% placement to students who passed in first batch.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship who was present virtually.  However, his motivating words and appreciation towards the JOSH initiative were inspirational.  He emphasized that apart from the acquisition of skills the candidates must focus on their health and safety so that they are aware of the various hazards and must also be ready for the transition from a student to a working individual.  The Guest of Honour, Mr. Shyam Jagannathan, Zonal Development Commissioner was present at the event along with Special Guest, Shri C. P. S. Chauhan, Joint Development Commissioner. The Dias was also adored by Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI, Mr. Adil Kotwal, of Creation Jewellery who was instrumental in driving JOSH, Mr. Shishir Nevatia, Director, GJSCI and Mr. Rajeev Garg, ED & CEO, GJSCI.

The students were felicitated with a Certificate of successful completion of the course by the members on the Dias as well as by Director, GJSCI, Prof. Shimul Vyas; NSDC, SEO-Maharashtra, Smt. Shatabdi.  The following week the students would all be with the respective companies who have hired them in the capacity of an Apprentice.

GJSCI has indeed been able to achieve its goal of reaching out to the under privileged and deprived sections of society, offering to skill them and give them a decent employment with reputed companies.
