Mumbai: The 4th edition of Bharat Diamond Week (BDW) was launched yesterday at Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). Dr. M’zée Fula-Ngenge, Chairman, African Diamond Council was the chief guest along with Mr. CP Singh Chauhan, IRS, Jt Development Commissioner SEEPZ and Mr. Senthilnathan, Chairman ECGC.
Dr. Ngenge in his inaugural address spoke on the strong bond that the Indian Diamond Industry shares with the African nations and expressed support to o foster relationships and strengthening the supply chain between India and African mining economies.
Mr. Anoop Mehta in his welcome note spoke on the importance of Bharat Diamond week for the Industry members and expressed happiness on the launch of BDW after a haitus of three years due to covid 19 restrictions.
Mr. CP Singh Chauhan IRS, Jt. Development Commissioner SEEPZ appraised the industry members on the key role that SEEPZ plays for the gems and jewellery sector in terms of supporting exports complimented by the world class facility that SEEPZ houses. He also added that BDB supplies with the diamonds required for jewellery mfrs in SEEPZ to manufacture exquisite jewellery ment for exports. Mr. Senthilnathan, Chairman ECGC spoke on the important role that the entity plays for the export sector in India and applauded Bharat Diamond Bourse initiatives. The sponsors and International delegation heads were facilitated for their support with a memento.
Mr. Mehul Shah in his vote of thanks expressed his gratitude to the guests as well the sponsors and the organizing team for their ardent support to make the 4th edition of Bharat Diamond Week a success. He said that BDW was indeed an excellent opportunity for small and medium. sized diamond companies including large ones to showcase their exquisite creations. In his address he urged ECGC to open up a branch within Bharat Diamond Bourse which will help the entire SME’s in the Diamond sector. Talking about SEEPZ and the facilities within Mr Shah applauded the efforts of Mr Shyam Jagannathan, Zonal Development Commissioner SEEPZ and Mr CP Singh Chauhan Jt Development Commissioner SEEPZ for making SEEPZ SEZ one of the best Export zones in the world. He added both BDB and SEEPZ put together make Mumbai the natural gateway to the world concerning diamonds and jewellery. Thanking Dr. M’zée Fula Ngenge for his presence Mr shah added that Bharat Diamond Week has indeed connected both ends of the supply chain that is Mine to Trade.
Bharat Diamond Week will run from 6th April to 8th April with over 55 exhibitors showcasing exquite diamonds, diamond jewellery, technology as well lab grown diamonds, the BDW is indeed a ‘not to be missed’ event.
