BDB Installs 118' High Indian National Flag Mast

Mumbai: A 118 feet high Flag Mast has been installed in the premises of Bharat Diamond Bourse located in the ‘G’ Block of Bandra Kurla Complex, a corporate hub of Mumbai. The Indian National Flag admeasuring 30’ X 20’ was ceremoniously hoisted at the hands of Mr. Kirtibhai Doshi, the senior most diamond merchant in Mumbai and Mrs. Amrita Devendra Fadanvis, wife of chief Minister of Maharashtra state Mr. Devendra Fadnavis.

Having taken inspiration from the Prime Minister’s appeal to hoist the Indian Tricolour on all the private and public sector buildings and educational institutes; Mr. Kirit Bhansali, one of the prominent members of the Bourse’s Managing Committee took the initiative and got this august project materialized in shortest possible time.

Mrs. Amruta Fanavis, speaking on the occasion, expressed her satisfaction over this nationalistic gesture of the Bourse and averred that collective efforts and strong sense of Indian Nationality would only take India to glory.

Mr. Anoop Mehta, President of Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), Mr. Bharat Shah, President of Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association (MDMA) and Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya, Chairman of The Gems and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) were present at the occasion. All the members of the Management Committee of the Bourse and prominent diamond traders in Mumbai had also turned up in large number. Mumbai Police Band added a special flare and grace to the occasion by playing selective patriotic tunes. Security and Fire Safety contingent of BDB turned out impressively for salutations. The National Tricolor will be kept flying round the clock all the days in year. Proper illumination of the Flag Mast during night time has been ensured.

As the Indian Tricolor signifies unity, strength, peace and growth of the country, BDB signifies rich culture of Indian craftsmanship in the Indian gems and jewelry sector that has established itself globally.”

Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya, Chairman, GJEPC, said, “It is a proud moment to all of us at BDB. The waving flag symbolizes a feeling of pride, gratitude and honesty amongst the BDB members.”

Mr. Kirit Bhansali, while anchoring the programme, expressed confidence that the sheer sight of this tricolor shall enthuse people to remain dedicated and committed to the national cause.

Bharat Diamond Bourse is a conglomerate of 2500 diamond traders that occupies a 20 acre plot and 1.18 million sq. ft. built up area in BKC. The Bourse is instrumental in fetching sizable amount of foreign exchange to India and also a major employment generator. 50000 to 60000 people visit the Bourse daily. The Bourse is the largest diamond market in world and proudly calls itself as ‘Diamond Centre of the World’.
