Banks to Disclose Names of 7000 Willful Defaulters

Ahmedabad: The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) is all set to make public the names of 7,000 willful defaulters, many of who are from Gujarat. The association has said they will disclose the data next week.

“There are around 7,000 willful defaulters, and their bank dues add up to a staggering Rs70,000 crore. Their names will be announced on July 19,” said C H Venkatachalam, general secretary, AIBEA, while addressing media persons in Ahmedabad.

The apex bank association has also given a call for a one-day nation-wide strike on July 29 to protest against the merger of five associate banks with the State Bank of India and the privatization of IDBI Bank.

As many as 10 lakh employees of public sector banks are expected to join the strike.
