Anil Kapoor Illuminates the ‘Jewellers for Hope’

Mumbai: The 10th edition of Jewellers for Hope, the flagship charity initiative by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), illuminated the city with a powerful blend of compassion, commitment, and celebration. Held alongside IIJS Premiere 2025, this landmark edition brought together industry stalwarts, philanthropists, and dignitaries to mark a decade of impactful giving.

Organized in collaboration with De Beers Group and the World Gold Council (WGC), powered by GIA, and co-partnered by HRD Antwerp, the evening honoured the remarkable impact of collective action. Since its inception in 2014, Jewellers for Hope has donated over ₹12 crore to 20 NGOs working in healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, and social welfare.

This year, the funds raised will support the RK HIV AIDS Research and Care Centre—one of India’s leading humanitarian healthcare organizations. With over 33,000 free medical camps conducted and more than 5 crore individuals reached across the country, the Centre’s work has been transformative.

Staffed by a committed team of medical professionals, including department heads from top hospitals across 50+ Indian cities, the Centre has provided over 37 lakh spectacles, distributed 3.5 lakh wheelchairs, performed nearly 1 lakh surgeries, and delivered medicines worth more than ₹500 crore—completely free of charge.

The organization’s reach extends into the most remote regions of India, thanks to its fleet of 26 advanced cardiac ambulances and 14 mobile medical vans. These mobile units not only provide medical aid but also health education, screenings, and preventive care in underserved areas across West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and beyond.

In a heartfelt tribute to the nation, a portion of the evening’s proceeds will also be donated to the Indian Army, supporting a special project to be announced soon.

A highlight of the evening was the presence of Bollywood icon Mr. Anil Kapoor, whose magnetic presence and heartfelt words resonated with the audience. Known for his timeless performances and philanthropic spirit, Kapoor reflected on the significance of the initiative:

“It’s truly an honour to be part of Jewellers for Hope 2025, a meaningful initiative by GJEPC that brings the gem and jewellery industry together for a greater cause. As someone who has received immense love from people across India, I’ve always believed in giving back. What I love most about Jewellers for Hope is that it puts purpose at the heart of the celebration. Behind all the glamour lies a genuine commitment to causes that matter—healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, and more. Every act of service counts. Even the smallest gesture can ignite hope in someone’s life. I applaud GJEPC for consistently supporting the unsung heroes working to uplift society.”

GJEPC Chairman Mr. Kirit Bhansali, in his opening remarks, emphasized the industry’s legacy of responsibility: “Jewellers for Hope exemplifies our industry’s core belief that commerce and compassion must go hand in hand. For decades, the gem and jewellery sector has played a crucial role not just in India’s economic growth but in building a more inclusive and caring society—through education, healthcare, and disaster relief. As we celebrate a decade of this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to driving meaningful social change.”

India’s gem and jewellery export sector, which directly employs over 5 million people and supports many more, has a long-standing tradition of philanthropy. Jewellers for Hope continues to be a shining example of the industry’s enduring spirit of giving back.
