Moscow: ALROSA is holding two auctions for the sale of rough and polished diamonds within the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which will take place in Vladivostok from 6 to 7 September 2017.
From August 24 to September 6, the United Selling Organization (USO) of ALROSA has been auctioning special size rough diamonds of 10.8+ ct. The company puts for sale 45 stones with total weight of 1,293 carats, the largest one weighs 75.75 carats. About 80 companies from the US, China, India, Israel and Belgium are participants of the auction.
“Large rough diamonds weighing over 10.8 carats are solely sold at auctions and are always in great demand. Diamonds of this size range are set up for the auction in Vladivostok. First auctions at our Far East trading platform were held during the EEF 2016. Based on the result of sales, we have seen the interest of clients from Asia Pacific. This year we expect good results given a strong demand”, ALROSA Vice President Yury Okoyomov said.
Furthermore, from August 22 to September 5, DIAMONDS ALROSA, the company’s own cutting and polishing division, has been offering 36 polished diamonds from 2 to 12 carats in size. The biggest one (12.18 carats) is “emerald” cut diamond. Diamonds of usual round shape are also put for sale, as well as asscher, princess, radiant and pillow diamond cuts. One of the diamonds has fancy yellow color.
“This is our second auction within the Eastern Economic Forum. We sold all lots at significant premium during our first trial diamond auction last year. This year we are offering rather wide assortment of diamond cuts, which undoubtedly might interest our potential buyers”, Pavel Vinikhin, Director of Diamonds ALROSA, said.
First auctions on rough and polished diamonds in Vladivostok took place in the Eurasian Diamond Centre launched in September 2016. In total, from September to December last year 421.4 thousand carats of rough and polished diamonds were sold and 440.4 thousand carats – in the first quarter of 2017.
