A team of AI officials led by general manager Mukesh Bhatia was in the city to meet members of trade and commerce, Surat Diamond Association (SDA), Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and ‘We Want Working Airport at Surat’ (WWWAS).

It is reported that Mukesh Bhatia, general manager, AI (western region) said they were in the city to conduct a survey and meet people from important sectors like diamond, textile and power distribution.

GJEPC regional chairman Dinesh Navadiya said, “We have demanded morning and evening flights from Surat to Mumbai. This would facilitate the trade and also encourage international diamond buyers to directly visit Surat via Mumbai.”
