Mumbai: India’s exports of Gem & Jewellery for Dec.2016 recorded $3.09 bn showing a growth of 22.38% as compared to exports worth $ 2.53 bn for the same month year 2015, according to data released by the Gem & Jewllery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India.
The country’s exports for 9-month FY 2016-17, reached $ 32.03 bn and was 11.76% higher than exports of $ 28.66 bn achieved in the same period of the previous financial year.
The overall imports of gems and jewellery products for Dec, 2016 stood at $ 2.17 mn which indiactes a decline of 3.80% as compared to imports of $ 2.26 bn for Dec. 2015.
Provisional gross export of gold jewellery for the period April–Dec 2016 amounted to $ 7.0 bn, marking a growth of 12.30% over the comparative figure of $ 6.27 bn for April – Dec 2015.
Gross exports of coloured gemstones for the period April – Dec 2016 reached $ 289.78 mn, which marked a decline of 4.28% over coloured gemstones exports worth $ 302.73 mn for April – Dec 2015.
