llJS Premiere with Groundbreaking Changes

Mumbai: The 39th edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere is poised to make history with its groundbreaking changes and exciting new features. With two separate venues, the Jio World Convention Centre and the Bombay Exhibition Centre, this year’s show promises to offer a wider range of products and a world-class experience. The response from exhibitors and retailers has been overwhelming, setting the stage for a record-breaking event. From enhanced retail benefits to a focus on design innovation, IIJS Premiere 2023 is set to be the most successful and dynamic edition to date.

Retailers attending IIJS Premiere can expect a range of new features designed to enhance their experience. One notable addition is the “Prime” Visitor Package, which offers specific benefits, which include priority access to the show, a dedicated Prime Lounge, a high-speed WiFi zone, and a special Help Desk. With over 1,850 exhibitors, including more than 200 new participants, this year’s show presents a unique opportunity for retailers to discover new vendors, network with industry professionals, and stay abreast of the latest trends.

The highly anticipated 39th edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere is set to make history with its innovative arrangements and new features. The show, organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), will be held at two separate venues for the first time in its 39-year history. The Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) and the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Mumbai will host the prestigious event.

The decision to have two venues stems from the desire to showcase a wider range of products and create a world-class setting for exhibitors. The JWCC, a top-notch venue, will feature products such as diamonds and lab-grown diamonds, where India has established itself as a global leader.

The GJEPC aims to enhance the show’s international appeal by focusing on an international section and attracting more foreign buyers. The proximity of the JWCC to the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) makes it an ideal location for this purpose.

Simultaneously, the BEC is in the process of renovating Hall 6, which led to the need to accommodate dislocated exhibitors. The separate sections for diamonds and lab-grown diamonds required more space, which has now been accommodated. Both venues offer world-class infrastructure and amenities, providing exhibitors and visitors with a seamless experience.

As the industry continues to grow, IIJS has been instrumental in fostering its development. The show has played a pivotal role in transforming the Indian gem and jewellery industry into an organised and globally competitive sector. It has served as a platform for all segments of the industry, including machinery and allied services, to flourish. The success stories of numerous companies that have expanded into multi-million-dollar enterprises by leveraging IIJS as their primary business platform further illustrate its significance.

IIJS stands out from other shows by its emphasis on design innovation. Manufacturers put great effort into creating unique collections, recognising the growing importance of design in consumer purchasing decisions. The show provides a platform for manufacturers to showcase their creativity and gain valuable feedback from industry professionals and potential customers. It serves as a hub for discovering innovation and setting new trends in the industry.

The introduction of new categories such as Lab-Grown Diamonds and Silver at IIJS reflects the industry’s evolving focus. IIJS was the first to have an exclusive lab-grown diamond section, and the growing market for lab-grown diamonds in Western countries has contributed to its success. The show is expected to attract a positive response from countries like Turkey, Vietnam, and the CIS countries, further expanding the show’s international reach.

To Indian retailers, the GJEPC emphasises the importance of embracing innovation and marketing strategies. The industry has witnessed consolidation, but with hallmarking and advancements in marketing and digital platforms, Indian jewellery retail has become a well-marketed business model. Smaller retailers are encouraged to learn from others’ experiences, explore new products and offerings, and leverage their experiences at IIJS to grow and organise their businesses effectively.

The response to IIJS Premiere has been nothing short of phenomenal. In the first phase alone, over 30,000 visitors and 15,000 companies have registered, surpassing expectations. This tremendous response demonstrates the industry’s support for the dual venue arrangement and highlights the growing significance of IIJS Premiere.

While the majority of visitors are from the local market, IIJS serves as a vital sourcing platform for jewellers catering to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) worldwide. The show attracts a significant number of NRI jewellers, ensuring its international stature.

Despite the logistic challenges of organising a show across two venues, the GJEPC is confident in its ability to deliver a seamless experience for exhibitors and visitors. Adequate transportation arrangements and a well-studied booth layout address these challenges. The overwhelming response from exhibitors and visitors further confirms the success of this year’s IIJS Premiere.

Expectations for IIJS Premiere 2023 are sky-high. Last year, the show generated business worth ₹50,000 crore, and with the current trend of increased visitor footfalls, a 30% to 40% growth in business is anticipated. Stable gold prices, robust economic growth in India and surrounding regions, and positive market conditions add to the optimism. The GJEPC believes this edition will break all records and become the most successful IIJS show to date.
