Mumbai: Impact of the Covid-19 over the gem and jewellery industry is globally felt now. Many trade shows have been canceled, sales and manufacturing activities have gone down drastically. The industry stakeholders are cooperating their best to prevent further the spread of the novel coronavirus.

HRD Antwerp has also announced to stop its educational activity till further notice. In a letter to the stakeholders, CEO Ms. Ellen Joncheere said, “We at HRD Antwerp – Diamond High Council are committed to protect and serve the gem and jewellery fraternity across the globe during this crisis. ​

“Following our commitment to the industry, our laboratories located in Antwerp, Istanbul and Mumbai will be functional despite the disruptions caused by COVID – 19. Our labs will be 50% operational in accordance with the rules and regulations laid down by the WHO (World Health Organisation) and local health authorities. But all educational courses globally will be suspended till further intimation.”
