Gaborone: The De Beers diamond conference on sustainability is set to take place on 7 November 2017 in Gaborone, Botswana.
De Beers said the conference, which would be convened in partnership with the Botswana ministry of mineral resources and under the guidance of the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP), would focus on ways the diamond sector can work together to “catalyse responsible business growth”.
It would also seek to unlock “innovative practices at an unprecedented scale to raise the bar on shared value creation and accelerate the pace on achieving tangible results towards the 2030 agenda”.
De Beers said the conference would welcome the voices of senior UN leadership, government, chief executive officers, investors, and select civil society representatives to take part in interactive discussions and high-level networking opportunities structured around best sustainable business practices, among other issues.
The group said it had been engaged in efforts to integrate sustainability at the core of its corporate strategy, decision-making and governance, translating global needs and ambitions into “innovative” business solutions.
