Mumbai: The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) inaugurated the 31st Edition of India International Jewellery Show today at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon – the paramount show for the trade in Asia.
The show is being organized from 17th to 21st July 2014 and will have 35000 visitors, over 850 plus exhibitors and 1800 booths from India and Overseas. Guest of Honour, Mr. Karma Bahadur Thapa – Honorable Minister of Industry, Govt. of Nepal; Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC and Mr. Pankaj Parekh, Vice Chairman, GJEPC inaugurated the show through a lamp lighting ceremony followed by a guided tour of the show area. The event was also attended by distinguished members of the gem and jewellery industry, GJEPC officials and other VIPs and dignitaries.
The 5 day show will see a congregation of delegations across India and from a host of international destinations such as UK, Hungary, China, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Russia, UAE, Nepal, Myanmar, Iran, Thailand, Bangladesh. 35,000 visitors, both international and from India are expected to visit the show over the course of 5 days, which is a testimony to the growing popularity of the show.
Asia’s premier jewellery show has on display the widest range of gems and jewels under the categories of Studded Jewellery, Diamonds & Gemstones, Gold & Silver Jewellery, Couture, Allied, Machinery besides International Pavilions. The show, like all its previous editions, promises to be the key driver for greater trade and business in the segment.
At the inauguration of the India International Jewellery Show, Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, said, “As we embark on the 31st edition of IIJS, our constant endeavor is to promote trade within the gem & jewellery industry by creating a world class platform where traders and manufacturers come together to build their network. The industry is also going through a transitional phase with the new government and the demands shared with them. IIJS 2014 will create more opportunities thereby promoting trade at a global level. As we see an increase in participation from various international companies, our aim is to position IIJS as one of the world’s most sought after trade fairs.”

This year edition of IIJS 2014 is being held on the basis of old floor plan of IIJS 2013 where in Gold Jewellery and Loose Stones will function on stalls that have been designed and constructed in a manner that multiple companies may exhibit within the same floor space. he National Exhibition Centre had received several concerns from existing exhibitors on various functional and technical issues on the new floor plan. Exhibitors from several sections, particularly Gold Jewellery and Loose Stones have expressed their inability to function business needs in the recently expanded Multi Exhibitor Mezzanine booth configurations. The council has closely worked with the design team for a suitable floor plan for this year and in the near future.
IIJS 2014 continues its legacy of a bringing together the most sought after calendar event in the jewellery industry, promising to create higher benchmarks and setting new standards in the Gems & Jewellery business in the region and the world
